For
your benefit, please print these instructions.
- From
the Windows 95/98 Desktop, double click on My
Computer.
- Double
click on Dial-up Networking.
- Double
click on Make New Connection.
- Name
the connection Blue Ridge Internet, click Next.
- Enter
828 for the Area Code and the following numbers:
- Use
654-0880 for Buncombe or Henderson Counties.
- Use
456-6831 for Haywood County.
- Use
652-9663 for McDowell County.
- Use
862-3499 for Transylvania County.
- Click
Next and then Finish.
- Using
your Right Mouse button, click once on the
Blue Ridge Internet icon.
- Then
Left click on Properties.
- Make
sure that the "Use area code box" is unchecked.
- Click
once on the Configure button, located at the bottom,
under the modem.
- If
your modem is a 33.6k or less, set Maximum Speed to 38,400
by clicking on the down arrow on the right.
- If
your modem is a 56k, set Maximum Speed to 57,600.
- Depending
on the quality of your phone line, you may have to
set Max. Speed even lower.
- Click
on OK.
- Click
on the Server Types tab.
- Make
sure the TCP/IP check box is checked and uncheck
all others.
- Click
on TCP/IP Settings.
- Make
sure Server Assigned IP Address and Server
Assigned Name Server Addresses are marked.
- Click
OK twice.
- If
you do not have a Short-cut to Blue Ridge Internet
on your screen.
- Right
click once on Blue Ridge Internet.
- This
time Left click on Create Shortcut and answer Yes
when prompted.
- Close
out all windows and your dial-up is ready to go.
Please verify that your
email setting are correct.
Internet Mail (Internet Explorer 3.xx)
To change the default Home Page: Once you connect for the
first time Click on the Address line and type http://www.brinet.com
and hit enter. Click on View (at the top of the screen),
Click on Options, and Click on Navigation. In the Home Page
section click on Use current. Click OK.
To change your Mail Settings:
Go into Internet Mail and click on Mail toward the top of
the page. Click on Options and click on Servers. Your e-mail
address will be your username@brinet.com. Change your
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) to smtp.brinet.com and your Incoming
Mail (POP3) to pop3.brinet.com. You may also need to change
or add your Account Name and Password if it is not the same
as the one you gave us, or there is nothing in the field.
While under Servers, click on the Advanced Settings button
on the bottom and make sure the Reply to field is blank.
Click on OK.
Outlook Express (Internet Explorer 4 or 5)
To change the default Home Page: Once you connect for the
first time, on the Address line type in http://www.brinet.com
and hit Enter. Click on View or Tools (at the top of the
screen), Click on Internet Options. Under the General tab,
in the Home Page section click on Use Current. Click OK.
To change your Mail Settings:
Go into Outlook Express and click on Tools toward the top of
the page. Click on Accounts make sure that you are on the
Mail tab, and click on pop3.brinet.com (or variation) and
the Properties button. Make sure that your e-mail address is
correct (username@brinet.com) and your Reply to field is
blank. Click on the Servers tab your. Type in
pop3.brinet.com in the Incoming Mail (POP3) box and
smtp.brinet.com in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP). You may also
need to change or add your Account Name and Password if it
is not the same as the one you gave us, or there is nothing
in the field. Click on OK.
Netscape Communications Services (Netscape Communicator
4.xx)
To change the default Home Page: Once you connect for the
first time, on the Location line type in http://www.brinet.com
and hit Enter. Click on Edit (at the top of the screen) and
click on Preferences. You should be at Navigator and on the
Home Page section, click on Use Current Page. While in the
preferences, read the next section.
To change your Mail Settings:
Click on Edit then Preferences, double click on Mail and
Groups. Click on Identity and change your e-mail address to
your username@brinet.com and delete anything in the Reply-to
address line. Click on Mail Server and type in your username
for the mail Account Name. Type in smtp.brinet.com in the
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) box and pop3.brinet.com in the Incoming
Mail (POP3) box, and click on OK. You're ready to go. |
