The following are comprehensive instructions on using the
iMac and G3 "Internet Setup Assistant" to connect
to Blue Ridge Internet.
Step 1: Starting Internet Setup
Assistant
Find the Internet Setup Assistant in the
"Assistants" folder of the hard drive, and
double click the icon to start it. Click two
"Yes" buttons and one right-arrow button to get
beyond the startup screens, which look like the following:



Step 2: Connection Type and Modem
Settings
Enter a name for the connection (such as "Brinet")
for the connection, and select the modem to use in the
next two windows. Click the right-arrow button to continue
on each:


Step 3: Phone Number, Username,
Password, and Script
Enter the phone number, username, and password for the
account. Phone
Number: 654-0880 for Buncombe/Henderson
County, 456-6831 for Haywood County. 862-3499
for Transylvania County.
Please
verify that the access number you choose is local. Blue
Ridge Internet is not responsible for long distance
charges.

Click 'No' here, and click the right-arrow to continue.

Step 4: IP Address and Name Servers
Click the No and click the right-arrow to continue.

Our Domain Name Server (DNS) are 207.100.26.17
and 207.100.26.10. You can hit enter in the large
box to get a second line. Leave "Domain Name"
blank, and click the right-arrow to continue.

Step 5: Email Settings
Your email address is based on the username you chose
when you signed up for your account; it would be that
username with @brinet.com at the end. The password
would be the password you chose while signing up as well.
Click the right-arrow to continue.

Our POP3 server is called pop3.brinet.com; here,
you'll need to place your login name and an @
symbol before that, as shown below. The SMTP server for
sending mail is smtp.brinet.com. Click the
right-arrow to continue.

Step 6: Usenet News Settings and
Proxies
Our NNTP server is cnews.newsguy.com Click the
right-arrow to continue.

Click 'No' here, and the right-arrow to continue.

Step 7: Finishing Up and Connecting
If you're all set to connect, you can click the
"Connect when finished" box (or you can leave it
off if you want to connect later), and click the button
labelled "Go Ahead" to save the changes.

That's it. You're now ready to connect. If you're not
connecting during this setup, or need to connect in the
future, you'd need to go to the Remote Access control in
the Control Panel.
